Flexible office and meeting services provider to open second D.C. Metro location at JBG SMITH’s 1201 Wilson Boulevard.
May 24, 2018 (Rosslyn, VA) – Convene, the nation’s fastest growing flexible office and meeting services provider, has expanded its footprint in the Washington, D.C. Metro area with a new sublease with Gartner, the world’s leading research and advisory firm. Convene has signed a 14.5 year, 35,000-square-foot sublease at 1201 Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn, Virginia. JBG SMITH owns the new development.
“We are proud to establish a long-term partnership with Gartner and help them optimize and achieve greater value within their space in Rosslyn,” said Michael Burke, Vice President of Real Estate and Development at Convene. “The benefit of Convene’s move to this location is two-fold: we are able to provide unique meeting space and employee services directly to Gartner, while also supporting JBG SMITH in furthering the building’s trophy asset status with on-site hospitality-driven amenities available to all building tenants.”
With panoramic views of the Potomac River and Washington, D.C., Convene will occupy the building’s top two floors beneath its observation deck. The Convene-operated space will be available for Gartner employees and building tenants to use for meetings and events for up to 300 people. It will also open to other companies based in the region.
When Gartner acquired CEB, Inc. in 2017, Gartner was left with an overallocation of meeting and event space at 1201 Wilson. In order to optimize its footprint in the building, Gartner moved to sublease its extra space to Convene and utilize the Convene space as needed for meetings and events. As a part of the sublease agreement, Gartner has committed to an annual spend in the Convene-operated space.
Convene’s sublease at 1201 Wilson is the company’s second location in the Washington, D.C. Metro area. Convene also operates a 15,000-square-foot location at 1800 Tyson’s Corner in McLean, Virginia.
