The following is a republication of an email Chris Kelly shared with all Convene employees on Friday, November 22nd titled “Thank you for 10 years at Convene.” More news on Kelly’s next chapter can be found in Commercial Observer.
Friends and colleagues,
Today I announce that I’m stepping away from my day-to-day role at Convene as of December 31st, 2019.
It is with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye because I know that what we started 10 years ago has grown into a wonderful, thriving, and forward-looking organization. It has been the greatest privilege of my professional life to work alongside Ryan and our incredible team to build Convene to where it is today.
As a founder, I cannot relinquish my title nor can it be assumed; yet, when the time is right, it is important to let new leaders grow and guide the company through the next phases of its lifecycle.
I am inspired by how far our founding vision, core values and culture have traveled throughout and shaped the organization. As Convene grows internationally, I couldn’t be more confident in the company’s future and the potential for the Convene team to leave its imprint on the world. In terms of what is coming next for me, I will continue as an advisor to Convene to support and foster the on-going expansion.
Each of you has my heartfelt gratitude for pouring your time, talent, and trust into building Convene. It could not be the company it is today without each of your contributions. Every one of you conveys our values and culture—the foundation of our success.
In terms of what is coming next for me, I will continue as an advisor to and shareholder of Convene and have made a promise to myself to take some extended time off to enjoy my family and travel before diving into anything new.
With gratitude and appreciation,
