October 16, 2017 – NEW YORK – Convene, a leader in workplace hospitality, announced that it has appointed technology industry veteran Jim Schorno as the company’s first-ever Chief Information Officer (CIO). As CIO, Mr. Schorno will be responsible for creating enterprise business value from Convene’s IT operations and infrastructure as the high-growth company expands to new markets.
Mr. Schorno has more than 25 years of experience building teams, evaluating, selecting, and implementing systems and enterprise applications, and managing vendor relations to the short and long-term benefit of various businesses. Most recently, he served as the Head of Technical Excellence at Jet.com, where he was responsible for building out a new organization to align with software engineers, systems engineers, the information security team, the infrastructure organization, and the data management engineers to develop a robust engineering culture. His commitment to implementing new technical evangelism strategies, in partnership with the Branding and Talent organizations, led Jet.com to be ranked one of the most highly-sought after technology companies to work for by Business Insider in June 2017.
Prior to working at Jet.com, Mr. Schorno was the Vice President of Information Technology at Yodle, Inc., where he led network engineering, systems engineering, dev/ops engineering, infrastructure engineering, security engineering, telecommunications, disaster recovery, support services and the help desk teams. Earlier in his career, he held long-term technology leadership positions at Barnes & Noble College Booksellers and UPS.
“We are thrilled to have Jim join the Convene family,” said Ryan Simonetti, CEO and co-founder of Convene. “He has an impressive track record of strong leadership in the IT function, and is a genuine team player and team builder. He has spent several years in fast-paced, investor-backed companies like Convene, and has what it takes to thrive in this environment. "He truly embodies our company values, and his wealth of experience building technical teams and implementing new IT infrastructure from scratch will be an incredible asset to our team as we continue to grow Convene’s Workplace product.”
“I am excited to be joining the team at Convene at a time when the company is seeing so much growth and evolving as a tech-enabled services platform,” said Mr. Schorno.
Mr. Schorno will be joining Convene’s executive leadership team and reporting into Mr. Simonetti, effective today.
