Team Spotlight: Craig Bennett, General Manager at Convene 22 Bishopsgate

It takes a special team to make each of our properties shine, which is why we like to shine a spotlight on them from time to time.

Today, we’re introducing Craig Bennett, General Manager at Convene 22 Bishopsgate in London. He gives us a peek into what makes Convene run smoothly, his favorite part of 22 Bishopsgate, and what the future holds for Convene in the UK.

What is your job title and what are you responsible for?

I’m the General Manager at 22 Bishopsgate, so I’m responsible for the day to day running of that Convene location with accountability for People, Operations, Sales Oversight and many other areas.

What is your background, and how did it lead you to your current role at Convene?

My background has mainly focused on event & hotel operations. I was previously an asset manager for a family where I created a purpose built meetings center which set me up perfectly for my current role with Convene.

We know no two days are alike at Convene, but what would an “average” day look like for you?

One of the main reasons why I enjoy working at Convene is because no two days are the same. An average day would consist of checking in with my team to make sure they are set up for success, general admin work, catching up on emails, and strategising for the future.

From an operations perspective, what makes Convene properties so unique, and what makes them stand out from other properties/competitors?

I’d say the design is our biggest differentiator vs our competitors. I feel we really bring spaces to life and offer something unique, making Convene a great place to collaborate and work.

As a leader of a lot of people at 22 Bishopsgate, do you have any leadership strategies/philosophies that you have found to be successful in your role?

Empowerment within my team. Allowing them to be creative, bold, and make mistakes along their journeys makes for better employees in the future.

What are you most excited about at Convene in the near future?

We’re due to open our second UK Convene location in April 2024. Having current involvement in bringing this project to life is really exciting, and I cannot wait for its opening early 2024.

Do you have a favorite room/space at 22 Bishopsgate? And why?

The library spaces are my favorite spaces at 22 Bishopsgate. They have great views across the city and beautiful natural daylight.
