Convene Opens 35K Square Feet of Space in DC’s Tallest Tower

The company’s newest full-service meeting and amenity space in Rosslyn building’s top two floors marks Convene’s second location in D.C. metro area

WASHINGTON, D.C. – November 1, 2018 – Convene, the leading partner for commercial landlords in building and managing premium, amenity-driven, flexible-term meeting and work space, opened its second D.C.-area location today at CEB Tower at 1201 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, VA. Convene occupies 1201 Wilson’s top two floors, where it operates full-service meeting and event space, and provides amenity services for the building tenants, including leading research and advisory firm Gartner.

“Opening Convene at 1201 Wilson is an exciting moment for Convene, for both tenants of CEB Tower and companies located the Rosslyn and D.C. area,” said Michael Burke, Vice President of Real Estate and Development at Convene. “This space is a perfect example of how Convene’s approach to partnering with landlords benefits both property owners and tenants, and we are excited to expand our presence in the nation’s capital and serve the Rosslyn business community in more places and more ways.”

Offering the same panoramic views of the Potomac River and Washington, D.C. as 1201 Wilson’s renowned observation deck, Convene’s space in the building’s top two floors is available for tenants to use for meetings and events for up to 300 people. It is also open to other companies in the area. Convene will also manage a full-service culinary program for the tenants at 1201 Wilson, including vertical catering for full meals as well as pantry services.

In May, Convene signed a 14.5-year, 35,000-sqaure-foot sublease with Gartner, 1201 Wilson’s anchor tenant, to operate the new space and deliver managed services to the building. Convene at 1201 Wilson is the first location the company has opened in a JBG SMITH-owned property and the company’s second location in the Washington, D.C. Metro area. Convene also operates a 15,000-square-foot location at 1800 Tyson’s Corner in McLean, Virginia.

Earlier this year, Convene announced a $152 million Series D round of financing, which included investments from real estate, technology, and innovation leaders such as Revolution Growth, RXR Realty, ArrowMark Partners, Brookfield, and The Durst Organization, among others. With this funding, the company is planning to grow its footprint globally, expand its service offerings, and launch a new workplace technology platform. By the end of 2018, Convene will have 23 locations in five cities totaling approximately 700,000 square feet and is projected to have 1,700,000 total square feet of space in 10 cities by the end of 2019.
